Hanse Equine Hospital invites to the first specialist conference for innovative cervical spine operations

More than 50 participants accepted a personal invitation from the Hanse Equine Hospital to attend its first-ever specialist conference on “Innovations in Cervical Spine Operations“. At the half-day event at the Hotel Kloster-Mühle in Groß Meckelsen near Sittensen, two internationally experienced surgeons gave lectures, complemented by a new specialist from the Hanse Equine Hospital Internal Medicine. The positive atmosphere throughout the event enabled many interactions between the speakers and the audience as well as personal exchanges between the participants during the breaks.

At the beginning, the renowned French surgeon Dr Fabrice Rossignol, Dipl. ECVS from the Grosbois Equine Clinic, insights into the state of research on new cervical implants. They are used in therapies for ataxias and arthroses such as Wobbler, ECVM or also arthroses in fascet joints. He demonstrated his surgical method to the colleagues present and showed them post-operative results, including possible complications.

Dr Andrea Noguera, Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Hanse Equine Hospital, then presented the rare procedure of arthroscopy of the fascet joints of the cervical spine in horses, which provides promising results for certain indications such as OCD fragments, fracture fragments or even infections.

Finally, the moderator of the symposium and co-clinic director of the Hanse Equine Hospital,
Dr Olivier Brandenberger, introduce a new colleague, Dr Sonja Weiß, who is a specialist in internal medicine and performance diagnostics as well as cardiac ultrasound. She will expand the team of doctors at the Hanse Equine Hospital in Sittensen from December 2022 and gave a lecture on the topic close to her heart, performance diagnostics in horses.

Speakers such as participants particularly emphasized the professional exchange and the targeted provision of information on the latest therapeutic developments in the cervical spine area at the end of the conference. Reason enough for the Hanse Equine Hospital to offer corresponding conference formats with different focal points again in the future.
